Meet the Founder

EM-Sim was created by a physician who has spent his career teaching at the bedside.

Dr. Shermer is a board-certified emergency medicine physician whose career spans high-volume emergency departments, HEMS medical direction, and service as an Army National Guard State Surgeon. Throughout his career, he has been deeply committed to medical education — mentoring residents, teaching medical students at the bedside, and developing innovative approaches to clinical training.

His passion for teaching is matched by a genuine belief that simulation-based education can transform how emergency physicians prepare for the most critical moments of their careers. Dr. Shermer founded EM-Sim to bring the same hands-on, case-based teaching style he uses at the bedside into a platform that physicians can access anytime, anywhere.
